The gradation should meet the requirements in case of adding other refractory aggregate in the light brick refractory castable. According to the bulk density of refractory castables, the amount of refractory aggregate is generally 35% to 65%.
The refractory powder of Light brick refractory castable is mainly high alumina powder, clay powder with fineness of 0.09mm taking more than 90%. The production of light brick generates a lot of brick powder, which can be also used as refractory powder with fineness of about 0.09mm taking 70%. Dosage of refractory powder is generally 10% to 25% according to the refractory castable refractory properties and strength requirements.
Light brick refractory castable mainly used CA-50 cement, Portland cement, ordinary cement and pozzolanic cement as binder, with good performance, but the cost is high cost, thus less use of them.
Light brick refractory castable usually used with addition such as expansion agent in order to offset part of the contraction at high temperatures, and enhance its volume stability; the admixture mainly with water reducing agent. As we all know, lightweight aggregates are generally porous materials, need more water for wet mixing. Therefore, addition of appropriate amount of water-reducing agent can reduce water consumption and improve its workability and strength.

It should be noted that, in order to improve the high temperature properties of lightweight refractory castables, and sometimes miserably add soft clay, the amount of 3 to 8%. Soft clay is an additive, that is, from the role of sintering agent, but also bonding agent, which played a role in high temperature ceramic bonding.
There are many types and grades of light brick. When used with a variety of fire-resistant powder and binder compatibility, in accordance with the basic principles of composition, can be dubbed dozens of lightweight brick refractory castable to meet the production needs of different thermal equipment.
