Aluminous cement (formerly known as high alumina cement) takes bauxite and lime as raw materials, formulated by a certain percentage, calcined, ground to a Aluminate material, also known as aluminate cement.

High Alumina Cement Fineness: 0.088 mm square hole sieve shall not exceed 10%
Setting time: Initial set no less than 40 minutes, the final setting not more than 10 hours.
Chemical composition: SiO2≤10%, Fe2O3≤3%.

Application of High Alumina Cement:


(1) Preparation of monolithic refractories.
(2) Preparation of gypsum alumina cements expansive cement, self-stress cement.
(3) Projects need rush to building, repair, anti-erosion and sulphate and winter construction.

Ladle refractory castable generally use CA-70 or CA-80 refractory cement as binder. In a small ladle, using refractory cement as binder can reduce costs about 90%. The main role of refractory cement is to provide the refractory castable construction strength and low strength at high temperatures. Because of Al2O3 and CaO forming CA6 and CA2 and other refractory minerals, it helps to improve its performance. However, the cement itself is with impurities and excessive formation of CA6,which is disadvantageous for its refractory castable. So we need to consider its properties regarding to the use amount.
